Inslee wrong to bar staff travel to Mississippi

The recent article (Mississippi added to no-travel list for state-paid government trips) caught my eye. My first reaction was really?! Gov. Inslee, I believe you are out of line on this decision.

First of all, we are known as the United States of America; this means we are to function as one nation. Even though each of our states are independently bound by geographically and demographically beliefs, our underlining unity as one country is the same. Washington is not always going to agree with all the other states’ decisions and visa versa.

In this current decision, I sense intimidation, intolerance and bullying and an attempt to have Mississippi (or any other state) live under Washington’s liberal stance.

Need we forget over 100 years ago a similar arrogant position between the northern states and southern states resulting in a divided nation?

If we are to be united, we need to seek understanding, obtain knowledge and gain wisdom within all our relationships.
