Tumwater School District should pay teachers

As a parent of three children who have attended schools in the Tumwater School District (Michael T. Simmons elementary, Tumwater Middle School, and Black Hills High School), it deeply concerns me that we have incredibly talented, highly educated, and extremely passionate teachers leaving our school district for better paying jobs in surrounding districts.

Why would our school board want this to happen? Do they not see the benefits of these great teachers helping our students, building community connections, and strengthening our school district?

It is time for the school board to hear the pleas from the teachers, coaches, staff, parents, students, and community members....that a fair wage is needed now! To wait any longer and disregard this as a non-issue speaks volumes and let’s all of us in the Tumwater School District know that the school boards’ heart is not in the right place and should not be representing our district.
