YWCA of Olympia rocks

Has anyone else noticed all the great goings on at the Olympia YWCA?

Recently, I attended the 2016 Spring into Action Mission Showcase. I wasn't sure what to expect but once there I was not disappointed. I have attend numerous fundraiser but this one was different.

1: It was interactive. At each table representing a program or service the YWCA offers there was an activity to do as well as young women who are part of the programs that empowers them to be all they can be.

2: Each program was spotlighted for 10 minutes.

3: We were encourage to move around including the different food areas. A favorite was the taco bar. After sitting all day at a desk it was nice to move. Very clever.

Some of the programs I learned about include: Learning how to start a small business and the hard and soft skills needed to do it with Economic Empowerment. Practicing tools for enhancing self- esteem and more with Girls Circle. Embracing the power of education with STEM and the jobs that are available with Girls Without Limits. Standing up for social justice with Workplace Equity Initiative and the quest to Eliminate Racism.

All of these efforts make Thurston County a better place to live and work. I wish these programs were around when I was a young woman. Take a look at all the great work of the YWCA Olympia and support them. It’s worth it.
