Can't seem to qualify for Medicaid via DSHS
I’ve been trying to get the paperwork approved for my wife to qualify for Medicaid through the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services for approximately six months to no satisfaction. I’m hoping that by pleading for answers more publicly someone can provide information to help me get this case through the system.
My wife Iris has been living in an Alzheimer’s treatment home for about 18 months where she is very well cared for and doing very well. Her living cost there is roughly $6,000 per month. I am 84 years old and still living in our modest family home. Unfortunately between my wife’s expenses and mine I have spent all of my savings and life insurance proceeds. I and am just getting by with the necessities.
For months, as my assets have dwindled, I’ve been working with attorneys to file necessary paperwork. It has been denied twice, with reasons due to false conclusions which in each case have been addressed by the attorneys to what should be satisfying their reasons for denial. Our case seems to be passed from one DSHS case manager to the next.
I am an 84 year old United States Army veteran. In 1952 I began operating private businesses in Washington until my retirement at 65 years of age. I have paid substantially for the services of DSHS through the years.
Any fresh ideas that you or your readers might have in helping me would be greatly appreciated.
