Thanks, Sam, for making us think
Sam Bradley’s obituary in The Olympian on June 9 failed to give him credit for identifying “the Darth Vader Building” on the east side hill. It was only a casual observation perhaps, but one that made many of us blink and realize that an era of ugly architecture was threatening to overwhelm Olympia — with rifle-slit windows and dark, moody, brooding office buildings that discouraged visitors and contributed to a negative local culture.
Sam’s observation was timely, effective and uplifting. The town deserved better, and since then has gotten it. Thanks, Sam!
