Love wins for Gay Pride Week
How gratifying to see the rainbow flag flying in front of our state capitol as well as our city hall this past Pride week!
In 1986 a city ordinance was proposed to include sexual orientation under the umbrella of protections for city services. There was much support but also many protesters who attended the city council meeting to discuss the ordinance. A prominent, local minister rose to the podium with his big, white hair and declared, “This town will burn!”
The ordinance passed anyway. Thirty years later, that man is gone along with his sanctimonious ignorance and hate.
Love always wins.
