Swantown fuel dock needs explanation
I have read a number of articles in The Olympian on the proposed fuel dock at Swantown Marina. None of them have included much, if any, information about what the benefit of that fuel dock would be for taxpayers who do not have a boat. I'm sure Downing and McGregor have such an argument, I would like that information. I understand there are a couple of fuel docks not far away.
Based on the reports I've read so far, this proposal reminds me of the Seattle City Council spending millions of dollars to buy a bicycle-rental business that was losing money. It seems to me that if private business people don't see a Swantown fuel dock as a good business proposition, why should taxpayers subsidize one?
I'm sure Downing and McGregor can explain it to me. Please do. Lacking such an argument, it seems like backing such a project would be a good way to get voted out of office.
(This letter was sent to Joe Downing and Bill McGregor, Olympia Port Commission)
