Easy to be a bully, hard to be a leader

It seems the political world is spinning mad these days. The pace of information flowing has gotten so fast no one can process or fact-check it before it’s already made history by the next big story. Truths have become victim to distorted reality and conspiracy theories. In order to be able to process events and cling onto and embrace reality we must slow down and take a breath. But these days that has gotten extremely difficult.

However, there are those who thrive on hyper-paced chaos and false realities with little that can silence their deafening howls of rhetoric. Donald Trump exemplifies this weakness and sickness in our society. He and those on the far right sanctimoniously cry for justice and protection against those who have committed no crimes and pose no threat, other than to be of a different race or culture from them, in America.

“Build a wall,” “deport,” and remove countless rights from those who are different from them — their “solutions.”

Trump and his supporters have attacked the American way with an ax; hacked away at common American decency and bravery. Their message is of malevolence.

It is not brave to attack others in ways they cannot defend themselves. It is not honorable to make up lies. It does not take courage to insult entire minority cultures. It is not a leader who bullies others and lacks empathy. It is a party and a person gone mad.

America is about hope and strength, not fear and hate.
