Fly-casting class set for Federal Way
Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters in Federal Way is offering a beginning fly-casting class on March 20.
The session combines instruction, demonstration and practice on local waters. It includes an introduction to equipment, the theory of casting, leaders and knots. In addition, there is instruction on rod assembly and care, stance, hook removal, and various casting techniques.
The instructors include Darrel Martin, certified by the Federation of Fly Fishers and the Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (U.K.), and shop staff.
The class will be 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Participants should bring: rain gear, brimmed hat, protective eye wear, rod, reel, backing, line and size 3X tippet. The equipment should be ready to cast with line and leader attached. The store can help with any problems in setting up equipment, including rods, reels and line at no extra charge.
Students also are encouraged to bring lunch and drink.
The cost is $50 (includes a $30 deposit to reserve your spot). There is a limited number of spaces. You can sign up at the store’s Customer Service desk. For more information, call 253-835-4100.
