Metro Parks Tacoma is opening Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park for three nights of camping, starting Saturday.

Attendees will get a tent space, snack in the evening and hot breakfast. Participants will need to bring a tent, sleeping bags, toiletries, camp chairs, swimsuits/towels, flashlights and bug spray.

Here is the schedule:

7-9 p.m.: Check-in, setup.

9-9:30 p.m.: Evening snacks, time to explore.

9:30-11 p.m.: Activities including songs, ghost stories and crafts.

Midnight: Lights out.

6-8 a.m.: Sunrise breakfast, tent breakdown.

8:30 a.m.: Load out.

The other campouts will be Aug. 1 and 29.

The cost is $50 for four-person tent space; $75 for a six-person space and $100 for an eight-person space.
