That is the approximate number of juvenile fish that have died in state fish hatcheries because of drought conditions. More than a dozen of the state’s 83 hatcheries are dealing with low water levels or high water temperatures. The Soos Creek hatchery has lost 34,000 summer-run steelhead and 153,000 coho from diseases caused by warm water.
