On the road
Rosyln Art Festival
WHAT: The second festival will feature a juried art show, art sales, vendor booths, a wine reception, music and activities for children. The inaugural show last year drew more than 2,000 visitors.
WHEN: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 22 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 23.
WHERE: At various locations in downtown Rosyln. Artists will have their booths set up in the Rosyln Warehouse.
JURIED SHOW: This is new to the festival lineup. Organizers wanted to have a venue for local artists to take part in a juried show. It will feature photographs, two-dimensional and three-dimensional works. Awards will be given in those three categories, plus a youth category for artists ages 12-18. The show will culminate with a wine-tasting and awards reception from 7-9:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
TRY-IT ART: Children and families will have the chance to create their own art at stations run by the Roslyn Artists Guild. The stations will offer mini-workshops in metal jewelry-making, Calder-style masks, beading projects, wood-block-style prints, yarn art, paper quilts, Zimbabwe paper batiks and Monet-style magnets.
ALSO: The show will coincide with the Roslyn farmers market Aug. 23.
ADMISSION: Free. Tickets for the wine reception are $35.
