Christmas in Ilwaco
What: Celebrate the start of the holiday season during three events in Ilwaco.
When: Dec. 5.
Where: Ilwaco.
Visit the market: Visit the shops and vendors set up in downtown Ilwaco. It is a chance to do some Christmas shopping from local sources. The market will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. It also will be held Dec. 12 and 19.
Crab pot tree: The decorating and lighting of the Crab Pot Christmas tree will start at 5 p.m. It is billed as “The World’s Largest Crab Pot Christmas tree.” There also will be singing of Christmas carols and “the world’s shortest fireworks display.”
Boat display: You can wrap up the day by checking out the lighted boats in the town’s harbor.
While you’re there: If you want to make a weekend out of it, you can include a visit to Cape Disappointment State Park. The park is home to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, as well as the Cape Disappointment and North Head lighthouses. Also nearby are Fort Columbia and Leadbetter Point state parks, and Willapa National Wildlife Refuge.
Admission: Holiday events are free.
