St. Paddle’s Day

WHAT: The fourth annual event serves as a celebration of the start of the spring paddling season on Hood Canal. The event includes non-sanctioned races on the first day, clinics on the second day, vendor booths and demonstrations. The resort will be selling food during the event. Rob Casey of Salmon Bay Paddle is organizing the event.

WHEN: March 19-20.

WHERE: Alderbrook Resort and Spa, 10 E. Alderbrook Drive, Union.

RACE DAY: There will be races of 7 and 3 miles, as well as a kids’ race around the resort’s T dock March 19. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with a mandatory safety meeting at 10 a.m. Adult races begin at noon. Free kids’ sculling will be offered 10 a.m.-4 p.m. by Evergreen Rowing.

CLINICS DAY: The day will include standup paddleboard yoga clinics led by Joonbug Yoga at 1 and 3 p.m. The one-hour sessions, designed for all experience levels, are $22 and include a paddleboard rental. You can register at joonbugyoga.com/events.

COST: Admission is free. Race registration is $10. Registration includes a St. Paddle’s Day beanie for adults and T-shirt for kids.
