On the Road: Art by the Bay Festival in Stanwood

What: The 24th edition of this outdoor art festival will feature art booths, live music, and a beer and wine garden with local beer- and wine-makers. There also will be plein air painting contests, food and the Guilded Gallery. The event is presented by the Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild and the city of Stanwood.

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 9-10.

Where: Downtown Stanwood.

The artwork: This year’s show will include works from more than 100 juried artists and craftsmen from across the Northwest. Works will be done in acrylics, fabric, beads, wax, ceramics, glass, metal, and more, according to organizers.

Nearby attractions: If the arts festival isn’t enough to attract you, there are plenty of attractions in the area. Camano Island is home to Cama Beach and Camano Island state parks. You also can explore the beach at the Iverson Spit Waterfront Preserve. Kayak Point Regional County Park has a beach, a pier for fishing, camping and a playground. Canopy Tours Northwest offers zip line rides on Camano Island.
