Tuesday
Walk through historic Tumwater
The Capitol Volkssport Club will hold an 11-kilometer walk, with shorter options; the moderate walk will wind through Tumwater Falls Park, Watershed Park and the neighborhoods in between; meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday; Safeway, 520 Cleveland Ave., Tumwater; free, unless walking for credit.
Wednesday
Walk among museums
Downtown on the Go continues its Walk Tacoma series with a walk that will highlight six downtown Tacoma museums; Jennifer Kilmer of the Washington State History Museum will lead the walk; 5:15 p.m. Wednesday; start at Children’s Museum of Tacoma, South 15 Street and Pacific Avenue, Tacoma; free; downtownonthego.org.
Friday
History served with ice cream
Learn about Lacey’s history; there will be re-enactors, displays, kids’ activities and guided tours; visitors can also have some ice cream while supplies last; 5-8 p.m. Friday; Lacey Museum, 829 Lacey St. SE, Lacey; free; ci.lacey.wa.us.
Saturday
REI Village tour
The REI Village Tour will come to Mount Rainier, giving visitors a chance to learn about recreation and education opportunities in the country’s national parks; there will be interactive exhibits set up at the Sunrise area; Saturday; Mount Rainier National Park; free, but park admission required; nps.gov/mora.
Play in the surf
The South Sound Area Kayakers are holding a surf play day at Grayland; meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the end of the Cranberry Road access point; low tide is at 10:50 a.m. and high tide is at 5:37 p.m.; participants are asked to RSVP by email to c.law.may@gmail.com; ssak.org.
