On the Road: Enjoy Blackberry Festival fun in Bremerton
Blackberry Festival
What: The 27th annual event features food and craft booths, live music, the Berry Fun Run, a fly-in and car show, foot-ferry rides, beer garden and more.
When: Sept. 3-5.
Where: Waterfront boardwalk, downtown Bremerton.
Fly in and car show: This will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 5 at Bremerton National Airport. The Northwest BeechBoys Formation Team will do formation flight demonstrations over the boardwalk and at the airport. There also will be free flights for children under 18. There will be a free classic cars show on the ramp near the Airport Diner. The West Sound Military Vehicle Preservation Club will display World War II vehicles and equipment at their encampment.
Fun run: This 5-kilometer and 1-mile run will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 3. A kids dash will take place at 10:30 a.m.
Blackberry dining: There will be all sorts of blackberry dishes and beverages to sample. New this year will be a blackberry dessert wine. Wine samples will be available for those 21 years and older for 25 cents each. Other options include blackberry slugs, a maple bar-type doughnut made with blackberry filling and whipped cream. There also will be blackberry scones, pie, shortcake and cobbler.
Admission: Free, but there is a cost for some activities.
