Ex-Seahawks leader Duane Brown arrested at LAX for allegedly having gun at security check
Free agent Duane Brown, the Seahawks’ starting left tackle and a team leader the last five years, was arrested at Los Angeles Airport for allegedly having an unloaded gun in his luggage while passing through a security checkpoint.
LAX police confirmed to ABC News the 36-year-old Brown allegedly had a concealed gun at the security screening site in terminal 6 at the busy airport Saturday.
He has been unsigned since Seattle’s final game of last season, in January,
A video from X17online.com posted by TMZ Saturday showed a calm-looking Brown in handcuffs being escorted out of LAX by officers into a police vehicle waiting at the curb of the airport drive. The vehicle reportedly took Brown to a Los Angeles police station for processing on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon in an airport.
Brown has said he wants to retire with the Seahawks. Last summer he stayed out of practices in training camp wanting a new contract beyond the 2021 season. Instead, the team gave him more money for last season, then let his contract expire.
Then Seattle drafted Charles Cross at ninth overall in the first round in April, to be the new starting left tackle. That confirmed the Seahawks’ intentions to let Brown remain a free agent rather than bring him back for 2022.
Seahawks and training camps around the NFL begin the last week of July.
