A celebration of life for Dave Weber is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 in the commons at Timberline High School, 6120 Mullen Road SE, Lacey.

Weber was a champion of sports in the South Sound. He was the athletic director at The Evergreen State College, a sports reporter for The Olympian and The News Tribune, a KGY radio sports show co-host, and a Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation Board commissioner.

“Dave and I spent countless hours prowling the sidelines of football games in pouring rain and freezing cold,” said visual journalist Tony Overman, who is organizing the event. “We were like a TV broadcast team bantering back and forth. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports and an ability to understand the nuances of each game. I know the coaches and athletes appreciated that, but for me it made him a fun guy to hang out with.”

Weber died Dec. 3, 2022, at the age of 67. He is the father of Sasha Weber, a Timberline graduate and former professional basketball player.

The celebration of life is open to the public. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m.
