Where to cheer on the Mariners in ALDS Game 5 around Tacoma, with friends

This is it. Game 5.

If you can handle yourself being in public — among friends — during the final game of the ALDS, here are some ideas to watch the game around Tacoma, cold beer in hand.

Doyle’s Public House

Best known as a soccer bar, this 365 Tacoma staple has been setting up a big screen in the patio for Mariners playoff games. The bar and kitchen will be open as usual, but you can also snag a dog or two from the mobile Dawg Eat Dogs, who will prop a tent in the parking lot during the game. (21+)

Tacoma Pie

Owner Dean Shivers shared a humorous video this week reminding the audience that despite the restaurant’s Detroit-style pizza, Tacoma Pie is most definitely not rooting for the Detroit Tigers. (He is also a Giants fan, but that’s beside the point.) Grab a seat in the casual dining room to catch the game on a big screen. The kitchen will also offer “Seattle Dog Pizza” by the slice.

West End Pub

West End is a great spot to catch any baseball game, including MLB playoffs, with ample screens in various rooms — especially fun in the bar and in the spacious patio, fully enclosed. The kitchen serves everything from sandwiches and burgers to steak, salad and homemade soup.

North End on Pearl

Cole’s Bar and Grill around the corner might be your go-to, but there’s lots of room at North End on Pearl and many TVs in several rooms. The menu runs the gamut from wraps and sandwiches to burgers, flatbreads and dinner plates of salmon, steak or spaghetti in house tomato sauce.

Roadhouse Bar & Grill

This Puyallup pub — at it since 1969 — has TVs every few feet, with a broad menu of burgers, sandwiches, apps, plus chicken and jos. If things get tough, you can wash away your sorrows with pull tabs. (21+)

The Loose Wheel

With locations in Tacoma and Puyallup, The Loose Wheel has ample screens (23 in Tacoma!) and, beyond the regular menu, playoff-game specials including $5 Seattle dogs and $5 Modelos.
