UW women's Elle Ladine gets invite to Seattle Storm training camp
Elle Ladine won't have to travel far to start her professional basketball career.
The former Washington Huskies standout received a training-camp invite from the Storm, who start practice Sunday under first-year coach Sonia Raman.
Ladine, a 5-foot-11 guard from San Francisco, finished a fabulous four-year career at UW where she finished 18th all-time scoring in UW program history with 1,373 points, eighth in all-time three-point field goals (166) and fourth in all-time free-throw shooting percentage (80.3%).
During her UW career, Ladine averaged 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists. She shot 42.5% from the field, 34.1% on three-pointers and 80.3% at the free-throw line while making 88 starts in 123 games.
As a junior, Ladine nabbed All-Big Ten second team honors and averaged points 17.0 while shooting 47.3% from the floor, 39.3% on threes and 84.9% on free throws - all career highs.
She missed the first six games last season due to a lower-body injury, which partly explains a dip in scoring (9.9 points per game), field-goal shooting (39.6%) and three-point shooting (31.5%).
The Storm have 14 players on the roster, including Awa Fam, Flau'jae Johnson, Taina Mair and Grace VanSlooten who were taken in the WNBA draft on Monday.
In addition to Ladine, Seattle signed Zia Cooke and Mackenzie Holmes to training-camp contracts. WNBA teams can carry 18 players during camp and must reduce the roster to 12 players before the May 8 regular-season opener.
