MLB Stadium Covered in Snow Hours Before First Pitch

Even in April, seeing some snow isn't unheard of.

But a stadium completely blanketed in it? That's still rare in most places unless you're in Denver.

On Friday night, the Colorado Rockies are set to host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field, and if the Rockies have any chance of pulling off an upset, a snowy setting might actually work in their favor.

Hours before first pitch at 8:40 p.m. ET, with Colorado's Tomoyuki Sugano set to face the Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow, Coors Field was covered in snow, quickly going viral across social media.

Fans were quick to react to the snowy scenes ahead of first pitch:

"I hope this game is still on for tonight, my whole night is planned around this!" one fan said.

Someone else added: "Just have a snowball fight for the win and call it a day."

Another person wrote: "That's no problem for Ohtani."

"Meanwhile it's like 80 degrees back at Dodgers Stadium lol," a fan shared.

One more commented: "Looks like a bad night for ice cream sales.”

The snow is expected to subside by the time the game begins, meaning the matchup is still on track to be played as scheduled despite the early concerns caused by the rapid accumulation.

However, the scene has also reignited an ongoing conversation around stadium infrastructure in colder-weather markets, with some questioning whether teams like the Rockies should consider investing in a dome or retractable-roof stadium to prevent weather-related disruptions like this from occurring in the middle of April.
