NBA Fans Annoyed By Amazon Prime's Playoff Coverage
Three of the NBA's eight first round Game 1 playoff games aired live on Amazon Prime on Saturday afternoon.
The NBA, NFL, MLB and other sports leagues are all going head first into more streaming content. The NBA is airing playoff games on Amazon Prime, while the NFL is moving playoff games to Peacock and MLB is pushing games into streaming platforms, as well.
But as the NBA moves away from 100 percent cable and network TV plans during the playoffs, some fans are not happy.
NBA fans took to social media to complain about Amazon Prime's plans for the playoffs this year.
NBA fans sound off on the Amazon Prime coverage plans
"We are in a "transition" period across nearly every medium (media) and with nearly every sports property. Lots of education will be part of the bridge with this transition. Going from a landline phone to a mobile phone would be my example of this adjustment," one fan wrote.
"I have to admit as someone not in the target demographic that I didn't watch a second of the games on Prime. I like being able to bounce around between several events which I did yesterday. Watched college baseball, MLB and NHL all within a push of a button on my remote," one fan added.
"NBA doesn't get it or care. They lost a generation of fans with their all about me stance," one fan added.
"NBA doesn't care about his fan since it's just signed the most lucrative tv rights deal in sports history. This is a business. It's about time people understand that. Viewership and ratings have been dropping and are expected to drop over the next decade," one fan added.
Others, meanwhile, are defending it.
