U.S. Gymnast Simone Biles Makes Plea Over Behavior of Fans
United States gymnast Simone Biles is currently in Madrid for the Laureus World Sports Awards 2026. The prestigious event gathers the best athletes in the world to celebrate the biggest achievements in sports over the past year.
Biles is a four-time winner of the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year. The awards organization has honored Biles multiple times for her unprecedented success in gymnastics. The 11-time Olympic medalist is widely considered the greatest gymnast of all time, and Laureus has recognized her achievements on four separate occasions.
This time around, Biles will attend the 2026 Laureus Awards as an ambassador and as a special guest.
Biles' time in Madrid, however, got off to a bit of a rough start. This is after she had some overzealous fans waiting for her outside her hotel room.
Biles always makes time for her fans, but on this particular occasion, the 29-year-old could not help but call out the behavior of some of her supporters.
"okay I reallllly love how passionate and dedicated y'all are, BUT I have to be honest. It really makes me anxious when you stand outside of the hotel all day. Can we please please please love from afar & respect privacy xx," Biles posted via an Instagram story on Sunday.
Biles also noted that she would be more than happy to take pictures while she's out. However, she is pleading with the fans to give her some privacy when she's in her hotel.
The Laureus World Sports Awards 2026 will take place on Monday. It will be held at the Cibeles Palace.
