Carson Beck's NFL Draft Odds Reveal Which Team Could Pick Him

Two quarterbacks are considered the best of this year’s NFL Draft class, with Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza the consensus on the best available at the position.

He’ll go first overall in what seems like a major lock, and then the draft becomes interesting when it comes to the other quarterbacks available.

Most contend that Alabama’s Ty Simpson is the next-best QB and could be a first-rounder. After that, there is the University of Miami-Florida’s Carson Beck, a player who hasn’t been mentioned a ton in mock drafts or pre-draft chatter, until recently.

For a portion of the past season, there was a lot of buzz about Beck being one of the best in college football, and he helped guide a talented Miami (FL) squad to the National Championship game. However, Mendoza took the spotlight, leading the Indiana Hoosiers through an impressive season that culminated in winning that championship.

Sportsbook odds are floating around for the NFL Draft, and some of them focus on Carson Beck’s landing spot. First and foremost, he’s got a strong chance of not being a first-round pick, carrying odds of 70-to-1, per DraftKings.

When it comes to a potential team he’d go to, it could be Beck staying in the same region he played his college football in. The Miami Dolphins have +300 odds to select Beck, where he’d become a backup and understudy.

The Dolphins acquired Malik Willis this offseason, who formerly backed up Jordan Love on the Green Bay Packers. He had several moments this past season where he showed his capabilities, likely impressing more than a few teams.

However, Willis, a restricted free agent, agreed to a three-year, $67.5 million contract with the Dolphins, which made him the team’s newest starter after Tua Tagovailoa. That’s not to say that Beck wouldn’t compete for the starting role or get a chance to shine if they needed to replace Willis.

This past season, Beck finished fourth in the FBS with 3,813 yards and sixth with 30 touchdown passes. He tied for 121st with 12 interceptions, and his 81.8 QBR was 10th-best in the nation.

And he brings experience, as he had touchdowns and total passing yards in his 2023 and 2024 campaigns for the University of Georgia Bulldogs that were close to or better than last season’s stats at Miami. Should the Dolphins choose him, they'd potentially land a future QB waiting in the wings with Malik Willis and other pro QBs to learn from.

Still, based on the odds and speculation, Beck fans shouldn’t expect to hear the former Miami and Georgia quarterback’s name called on Thursday night.
