Is Son Heung-Min Playing Tonight for LAFC vs Minnesota United?

LAFC is set to face Minnesota United tonight, April 25, in a matchup that carries significant weight for the early-season standings.

For LAFC, while they opened the 2026 season with a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami at the LA Memorial Coliseum, the ‘Black & Gold' have struggled for consistency since.

They enter tonight's match winless in their last three league outings, having dropped points in two losses and a draw.

Head coach Steve Cherundolo has pointed to a grueling schedule as a factor, as the team has been balancing MLS fixtures with a demanding run in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, where they have successfully reached the semifinals and are set to face Toluca next week.

Korean superstar Son Heung-min has also played a crucial role in that CONCACAF Champions Cup success.

Minnesota United, meanwhile, looks to capitalize on LAFC's recent inconsistent form. The Loons have been strong at home, claiming five wins in their first nine matches.

Though they suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat earlier this month, they have since rebounded and will be eager to test an LAFC defense that has looked vulnerable during this busy stretch of the season.

Is Son Heung-Min Playing for LAFC vs Minnesota United?

Son Heung-min is expected to start tonight.

Since his landmark transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2025, Son has been the focal point of the LAFC project. Despite the team's recent dip in league form, Son remains a constant in the lineup.

Heading into tonight's match, Son has started all 8 of LAFC's MLS games this season. While he is still searching for his first league goal of 2026, he has been an elite facilitator, recording 6 assists so far.

His goal-scoring abilities have been more effective in the Champions Cup, where he has scored twice to help propel LAFC into the semifinals.
