Is Lionel Messi Playing Tonight for Inter Miami vs New England Revolution?

The 2026 MLS season continues as Inter Miami CF prepares to host the New England Revolution tonight, April 25, at the newly opened Nu Stadium. As the Herons look to secure their first-ever victory at their new home, all eyes are once again on the availability of captain Lionel Messi.

This matchup features two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Inter Miami enters the contest in a strong position after nine games, largely thanks to an attack led by Lionel Messi, which has produced 18 goals.

However, playing at the new Nu Stadium has proven challenging so far. Inter Miami is still searching for its first home win at the venue after a 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls in their last home outing.

On the other side, the New England Revolution arrive in Florida with significant momentum. Under coach Marko Mitrovic, the Revs have won four consecutive matches, including a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United. They currently sit just behind the leaders in the conference and will view this match as a chance to claim the top spot.

Lionel Messi's Status for Inter Miami vs New England Revolution

Lionel Messi is expected to start and lead the line for Inter Miami tonight against New England. The Argentine superstar has been in fine form this season, having already netted seven goals in eight MLS appearances.

Despite some minor fitness concerns earlier in the year, including a hamstring strain in February, Messi has been a consistent presence in the lineup recently.

He played the full 90 minutes in each of Miami's last five matches, most recently scoring twice in a 3-2 comeback victory over the Colorado Rapids last weekend.

Interim manager Guillermo Hoyos, who stepped in following Javier Mascherano's recent departure, is expected to rely heavily on Messi's playmaking to break down a New England defense that has contributed to a four-game winning streak for the visitors.
