Fox Sports Host Rob Parker Has Issue With Bronny James Media Coverage
The Los Angeles Lakers are out to a 3-0 start to their series against the Houston Rockets and can close the series out with time to rest as early as tomorrow. But as the Lakers thrive on the court, one Fox Sports radio host has an issue with Bronny James off the court.
Yesterday on his The Odd Couple show, Parker admonished the media for giving James so much attention at halftime. He said that Rui Hachimura should have received more attention after going 6-for-6 with 16 points while Bronny James only had five.
"How does Bronny get interviewed at halftime with 5 points? Rui started the game 6-for-6 with 16 points, and they interview Bronny? Why?!" he asked angrily.
Why the anger?
As much as NBA fans like to make fun of Bronny James not being as good as his famous father, fans collectively rolled their eyes at Parker for getting so heated over nothing.
"No way he found a way to hate on a mid game interview. See this is the issue about the NBA media. They just find ways to hate for clicks and views. They don't even analyze their sport anymore. They just hate," one user remarked.
"The disrespect from sports media to other players and teams for a small handful of players - in this case, the fact that he's a great player's son - is insane. Sports media isn't about reporting sports anymore. It's about getting the most likes," wrote another.
"Rui did what he was supposed to do. Bronny outscored the Houston bench. The clicks must be low for this kinda content," a third pointed out.
In an age of ragebaiting, getting angry over nothing seems to be the fastest and easiest way to draw attention. The unfortunate thing is that it actually works a lot of the time.
We're all talking about Rob Parker in a way that we probably wouldn't be if he hadn't said what he said about Bronny in the first place. In a sense, it's mission accomplished.
