Female Pitcher Olivia Pichardo Makes NCAA Division 1 Baseball History
There's no crying in baseball.
Olivia Pichardo, a female pitcher for Brown University, didn't shed any tears over the weekend. However, no one would have blamed her if she did. Pichardo made NCAA Division 1 baseball history.
The female pitcher for the Ivy League school became the first woman in the history of NCAA Division 1 baseball to pitch in a regular season game. She appeared in this weekend's game against Cornell.
With Brown leading Cornell, 16-4, Pichardo appeared in the game. She closed out the victory, getting the final batter of the game to ground out to shortstop.
Brown, a senior from Queens, New York, became the first female to make an NCAA Division I baseball roster back in 2023. She made her collegiate debut that year and her lone appearance of the season as a pinch hitter against Bryant on March 17.
In 2024 and 2025, she appeared in a total of four games.

Brown improved to 19-16 on the season, 11-6 in conference, following a weekend series against Cornell.
