Ex-Giants QB Russell Wilson mulls offer from Jets, eyes TV job market

Former New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson received an offer from the New York Jets, but is still deciding if he wants to continue playing.

Wilson spoke about the offer during an interview with the New York Post on Wednesday in New York. The 14-year veteran was the Giants’ starter through the first three games of 2025, but was benched in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart.

Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants last off-season.

“They offered me,” Wilson said of the Jets. “I’m trying to figure out what’s the next best thing to do and all that. I still know I can play ball and do that at a high level. But also, I think the opportunity to do TV, too, is great.”

Wilson said there are a “lot of great networks,” when speaking about his TV broadcasting opportunities. The 10-time Pro Bowl selection completed a career-low 58% of his throws for 831 yards, three scores and three interceptions over six appearances last season.

Wilson completed 63.7% of his throws for 2,482 yards, 16 scores and five interceptions over 11 starts in 2024 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent his previous two seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Wilson played his first 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and threw 353 touchdown passes -- the fourth-most among active players -- through the first 205 appearances of his career.

His 49,966 career passing yards are fifth-most among active players. The Jets acquired veteran quarterback Geno Smith in March through a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. They also selected former Clemson quarterback in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe are the other quarterbacks on the Jets’ roster.

Wilson also made appearances as a player at an April 26 game with the Savannah Bananas and at Saturday’s Kentucky Derby and Monday’s Met Gala.

Jets rookie minicamp will be held Friday through Sunday. Their first segment of organized team activities will be May 27. Jets mandatory minicamp will be June 16 to 18.
