Anthony Edwards Makes His Opinion of NBA Referee Tony Brothers Very Clear
Things got heated during Friday night’s Game 3 matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves as NBA referee Tony Brothers had to be held back as he confronted Chris Finch.
Brothers and Finch got into a screaming match that was eventually broken up by Timberwolves players and coaching staff. After the game, Finch said Brothers illustrated “completely unprofessional behavior.”
Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards stood at Finch’s side as the incident cooled down. As a competitor, Edwards wasn’t concerned by the incident at all.
“Competition at the highest level,” Edwards said after the game, via ESPN. “We wanna win. Finchy wanna win. Tony Brothers is Tony Brothers. We all love him.”

Finch explained the incident during his postgame press conference, saying Brothers didn’t grant him a timeout quickly enough in the fourth quarter.
“I [told him], ‘I want my three seconds back,'” Finch said. “He clearly heard me [call a timeout]. He looked my way, ignored me, went on with the play. Almost cost us a turnover.”
“He lost it,” Finch added.

The Timberwolves lost Game 3 with a 115-108 final scoring, notching their second consecutive loss following their upset victory in Game 1. For the first time in the series, Edwards played without a minutes restriction - recording a team-high 32 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
No other player for the Timberwolves had more than 20 points. Naz Reid recorded 18, and Jaden McDaniels dropped 17 on an inefficient 5/22 shooting from the field.
Game 4 will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
