Duke Basketball Connected to No. 7 Transfer Portal Recruit
The Duke Blue Devils continue to seek roster improvement through the transfer portal. So far, Jon Scheyer and his staff have landed three commitments. The group currently ranks 52nd in the nation with an average transfer rating of 93, per Rivals.
While guard John Blackwell (Wisconsin Badgers) is viewed as the biggest splash so far, forward Drew Scharnowski (Belmont Bruins) and guard Jacob Theodosiou (Loyola Maryland Greyhounds) are also hoping to make an impact next season.
The Blue Devils are weighing other options as well. On Wednesday, ESPN's Jeff Borzello reported that Duke, along with the LSU Tigers are the only two teams to have conversations with former Santa Clara Forward Allen Graves.
"Former Santa Clara forward Allen Graves says the only two schools he's had conversations with are LSU and Duke," Borzello wrote. "He added that Kentucky has reached out to his agents, but Duke and LSU were his top two. Graves said he would prefer to stay in the NBA draft if he's a first-rounder."
Graves appeared in 35 games and made four starts for the Broncos last season. He averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists. The forward also shot 51.2% from the field and 41.3% from beyond the three-point line.
With three more years of eligibility, he is one of the top players on the open market. On3 Industry Rankings list him as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 power forward and the No. 7 player to hit the transfer portal this offseason.
After suffering an Elite Eight loss to the UConn Huskies, the Blue Devils are looking for difference makers. Graves could be key to helping Duke replace Cameron Boozer, who is expected to be one of the top picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.
However, as Borzello noted, Graves is also hoping to leave for the NBA. CBS Sports lists him as the No. 30 player in the draft, making him a borderline first-round talent. If he opts to return to college, though, Duke is a potential landing spot.
