Washington's Ugly Branding Is Holding Back the Wizards' New NBA Era
The Washington Wizards are officially entering a new era for the franchise after winning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery.
Regardless of who they pick or if they trade the prized selection for more young assets, the Wizards are turning the page and entering a new chapter in their franchise’s history.
And that’s why they need to take their current logo and jerseys, walk out back behind their arena, and throw them in the dumpster forever.

For the past 15 years, the Wizards have been wearing their generic red, white, and blue uniforms with a generic ball logo that looks like something your child would receive playing in a youth league.
They’re boring and unimaginative, which is crazy when the team is literally named the Wizards.
Go back to the bronze and lighter blue. Incorporate an actual wizard or some sort of wizardry into your branding if you don’t want to change the name.
If you want to keep the all-American, Capitol-focused branding, sure, fine, but change the name at least and upgrade the uniforms. The Patriots have a similar theme but a superior uniform and logo set compared to the Wizards, so it’s not even fair to compare.
Pick a lane, Washington.
Either change the name and fully redo the red, white, and blue branding with the stars and stripes, or become fun again.
Embrace the Wizards as a brand. Call back to your history, which is now retro since they haven’t worn the colors for nearly two decades.
Be it AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, or anyone else in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The last 15 years for the Wizards franchise and its fans have been a forgettable era. As we enter into something new, don’t have your next face of the organization be synonymous with a jersey and logo that have only brought casual groans and blowout losses.
Be better than your past, Washington, and just bite the bullet: your future looks bright, but your current branding is bleak as ever.
