NBA Recognizes Historic Victor Wembanyama Feat Before Game 6
The San Antonio Spurs claimed a 3-2 series lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves with a victory in Game 5, led by a stellar performance from superstar center Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama recorded 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and three blocks as the Spurs notched a dominant 126-97 win. With this stat line, the 22-year-old Frenchman became the third youngest player in NBA history to record at least 25 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in a single playoff game.
The NBA recognized this milestone with a social media post in preparation for Game 6.
“A HISTORIC night for Victor Wembanyama. Wemby led the Spurs to a huge Game 5 win, becoming the 3rd youngest player to ever post 25+ PTS, 15+ REB, and 5+ AST in a postseason game,” the league wrote on X.
Wembanyama trails only Magic Johnson and Luka Doncic.

Wembanyama missed the majority of the Spurs’ Game 4 loss after he was ejected for elbowing Naz Reid in the jaw. He got off to a red-hot start in Game 5, scoring 18 of his 27 points through just nine minutes of action in the first quarter.
“It’s super important for us the way we started the game because it sets the tone,” Wembanyama said postgame. “I was fresh, feeling good. Honestly, it’s hard to tell if it was just Game 5. Obviously, I’m going to be excited. We’re going to have butterflies. Excitement is not something abnormal at this point in the playoffs.”

The Spurs have a chance to close out the series with a road victory in Game 6.
With a win, they’ll move on to a Western Conference Finals matchup against the reigning NBA-champion Oklahoma City Thunder. With a loss, they’ll return to San Antonio for a Game 7 matchup against the Timberwolves.
Friday’s Game 6 matchup will tipoff at 9:30 p.m. ET.
