IndyCar Makes Decision on Indianapolis 500 Qualifying After Rain Delay

Things in Indianapolis could have been better today. Too much rain and thunderstorms have eliminated the time window needed to dry the track and qualify the 33 cars entered in the Indianapolis 500 in time for sundown.

IndyCar attempted to keep the schedule on pace for Saturday. Mother Nature had other ideas. The rain and storms formed a belt that crossed Indiana and into Ohio all day today, with the belt of rain and storms going almost directly through Speedway, Indiana.

So, it appears that Sunday is going to be a busy day. Action on track will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET. Everything from Saturday is going to get bumped to Sunday and that means there will be even less room for delays due to weather. There are chances of rain over the next few days in Indianapolis and Speedway, Indiana.
