Ronda Rousey Earns $2.2 Million for 15-Second Win Over Gina Carano in MMA Fight

Ronda Rousey just finished Gina Carano with an armbar within 15 seconds of their main event fight on MVP MMA, which was broadcast to a global audience on Netflix. Now, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has disclosed its purses for the fight card, revealing figures to MMA news outlet MMA Junkie.

Rousey made it look easy against Carano, quickly transitioning to an armbar as soon as the opening presented itself on the ground (via Netflix Sports on YouTube):

That 15-second performance from Rousey earned her $2.2 million, while Gina, who barely threw a single strike, earned $1.05 million.

Fighter Pay: A Hot Button Issue

Since the buildup of this fight, Rousey has been extremely vocal about her opinion on the UFC's pay. Despite her big payday under Jake Paul's MVP MMA, Rousey spoke to the crowd shortly after the fight, making it clear that she does not plan on fighting again:

The figures also provide clarity shortly after Jake Paul made the claim that Rousey would be getting paid more for her fight with Carano than Ilia Topuria would be getting for his UFC Freedom 250 fight against Justin Gaethje for the undisputed UFC lightweight title.

Time will tell whether or not the payouts for UFC Freedom 250 will be made available after the event, though it may be unlikely given the UFC's track record of keeping purses under wraps.

Fighters on the undercard of the MVP event did, however, get paid at least $40,000, which is far more than the UFC's minimum pay of $12,000 to show, $12,000 to win.

MVP's Nakisa Bidarian confirmed before the fight that the organization's payouts were a flat rate for every fighter, not a show-win pay model like the UFC (via The Ariel Helwani Show):
