Winner of The News Tribune’s Golf & Tennis Athlete of the Week (May 11 to 16)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Golf & Tennis Athlete of the Week for contests played between May 11-16. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Anya Moravek, Bellarmine Prep girls tennis
Moravek had straight set wins in her two matches on Saturday to secure the 3A District title.

Ellie Johnson, Black Hills girls golf — The senior won the 2A District 4 title, winning the tournament by four strokes, shooting 78 and 84 at Riverside Golf Course on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Anya Moravek, Bellarmine Prep girls tennis — Had straight set wins in her two matches on Saturday to secure the 3A District title.
Avery Peterson, Kentwood girls golf — Shot 69 and 72 at the 4A District 3/4 tournament at Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma, resulting in medalist honors and leading the Conquerors to the team title and securing a spot for the team at the 4A state championship tournament at Hawks Prairie in Lacey.
