NFL Insider: Chiefs Could Trade for All-Pro WR Amid Rashee Rice Drama

For whatever reason, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice hasn't been able to stay out of trouble since joining the NFL.

And the 26-year-old wideout find himself in hot water yet again this offseason, and Rice's off-the-field issues just may force the Chiefs to explore finding his replacement, according to SI.com's Albert Breer.

"The NFL no longer suspends players for failing marijuana tests, however, this is a separate issue because it does relate to his probation," Breer stated. "He obviously has a track record [for violating] the personal conduct policy. This is something that the Chiefs are going to have to deal with.

"… What [do] the Chiefs do at receiver now? Do they go back and maybe look at the idea of trading for A.J. Brown? … They had that opportunity, they were on A.J. Brown's list. They said no to the Eagles in the first place, but I think if you're the Chiefs you have to look at all these things going forward because Rashee Rice clearly looks like somebody that you have not been able to rely on."

Revisiting a trade for Brown may be Kansas City's best option.

Aside from Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton, the Chiefs don't have very many reliable pass-catching options on their roster.

The only WR they drafted was Cincinnati's Cyrus Allen, and while undrafted free agent Jeff Caldwell has received rave reviews, the team needs some sort of safety net in case Rice's personal matter implode next season.

Acquiring Brown, a three-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler who's totaled six 1,000-yard seasons in his seven-year NFL career, would legitimize KC's passing offense and take the pressure off Worthy to account for WR1 production.
