"That Literally Broke My Heart": Aliyah Boston Comments on Unfortunate Injury

Aliyah Boston missed the Indiana Fever's game against the Seattle Storm on Sunday due to a lower leg injury she sustained during their previous outing against the Washington Mystics.

To recall, Boston was forced to exit last week's Mystics game during the third quarter due to the health setback and didn't return. It raised plenty of concerns since the All-Star center suffered a similar injury during the offseason while she was playing at Unrivaled.

Fortunately, the 24-year-old big was able to make a quick return to the court, suiting up during Wednesday's showdown with the Portland Fire. Even better, she dropped 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block as the Fever secured a 90-73 victory.

Indiana improved to 3-2 with the win, putting them above .500 for the first time this season after a rough start.

Aliyah Boston Addresses Rare Injury

Ahead of the Fever's game against the Fire, Boston talked about her injury in the latest episode of her "Post Moves" podcast with Candace Parker.

The three-time All-Star shared her disappointment that she wasn't able to play in the Fever's battle with the Storm, especially since it was the first game she had missed in eight years.

Prior to her recent absence, Boston had played in 275 straight games throughout her college and WNBA careers.

"I know. Please don't remind me," Boston said when Parker mentioned how her injury snapped her insane record.

"That literally broke my heart. I honestly wanted to just start the game and then not play the rest. Like, I literally just wanted to do the tip and then sub me out."

It's certainly a promising development that Boston wasn't sidelined for a long time. Still, since it's a nagging injury, she knows very well that she needs to manage it throughout the season in order for her to stay healthy.

Indiana Fever Need Aliyah Boston Healthy

Boston's health and availability will be a major factor for the Fever if they want to contend for the title.

Last season, with Clark injured and out, Boston took a more prominent role for the Fever. She averaged 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals, establishing herself as an MVP candidate and an All-Defensive Team member and an All-WNBA Team player.

This 2026, the Fever will need Boston to elevate her game alongside Clark as they look to overcome other title favorites such as the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty.
