Rachel DeMita: Not Sure It Makes Sense For Caitlin Clark To Stay With Fever
Rachel DeMita believes Caitlin Clark should consider leaving the Indiana Fever once the opportunity presents itself.
Prior to Wednesday night's game against the Portland Fire, the Fever said there were no injuries to report. And yet, less than two hours before tipoff, Indiana ruled out Clark due to back soreness. What made this announcement even more confusing was the fact that head coach Stephanie White said it wasn't an ongoing issue.
"She's healthy," White told reporters. "We're not managing anything. This is just a back issue that we want to make sure we give the time to be ready."
After the Fever ruled out Clark for Wednesday's game, DeMita went live for a new podcast episode on YouTube. Let's just say she didn't hold back her thoughts on the Fever.
"I don't know if Caitlin staying with the Indiana Fever makes sense," DeMita said. "I think If this were an NBA franchise, an NBA organization, people would be fired by now."
DeMita thinks someone affiliated with the Fever's organization should be fired for the way Clark's injury situation has been handled.
"This is the face of the league, a star player who never had injuries. People would be fired by now. People would be fired expeditiously expeditiously. Somebody has to go down for it. That's what happens in every other league. We literally just saw Jason Kidd get fired by the Mavericks because they had a horrible season and they have Cooper Flagg. We see this happen so often."
WNBA fans are understandably frustrated.
Countless fans have aired out their complaints about the Fever and the way they've managed this situation.
"What is happening in Indiana with Caitlin is complete mismanagement and they have literally destroyed the Caitlin fever she created with fans when she arrived," one fan said. "They did everything you could possibly do to disrespect the fans, they let Caitlin get beat up, have completely messed with her body and her mind and they are wasting Caitlin's prime years."
"Caitlin should demand to be traded," a second fan added. "She has power and needs to use it for her own good and the good of the league. I refuse to watch her play in a Fever jersey at this point."
"The Fever organization should be fined for not following the rules around reporting the injury status of Caitlin," another fan declared.
Hopefully, Clark will be active for this Friday's game against the Golden State Valkyries.
