NFL Not Cutting Ties With Brad Karp, Attorney Linked To Jeffrey Epstein

For the second time this year, someone affiliated with the NFL has been linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Back in February, attorney Brad Karp resigned from his role with law firm Paul Weiss. This decision came after his name was tied to emails with Epstein. Why is that significant for the NFL and Roger Goodell? Well, Karp has been employed by the league for high-profile lawsuits, which includes its legal battle with former coach Jon Gruden.

Even though Karp has ties to Epstein, he's being retained by the NFL. At the very least, it's a questionable move by the league.

"It's one of those things that's lawful, but awful," U.S. Representative Wesley Bell (D-MO) told Adam Kilgore of The Athletic. "The NFL, considering the place they hold in our society - much less with kids - I think should be very sensitive to the people they associate with. Very questionable, I think."

Not the first time Epstein has been mentioned in NFL circles.

The Athletic reported earlier this year that longtime New York Giants owner Steve Tisch had discussions with Epstein in 2013. Apparently, Epstein provided "scouting reports" on women for Tisch.

"We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy, and investments," Tisch said. "I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with."

It was later revealed that Giants co-owners Steve, Laurie and Jonathan Tisch requested to transfer their stakes in the team to their children's trusts.
