1A State Softball: Four-run fourth inning sends Seton Catholic into state championship game

May 23-Maggie Kender struck out 14 batters and Seton Catholic rallied for four runs in the fourth innings as the Cougars beat Cedar Park Christian 6-2 to win a Class 1A state softball semifinal game Saturday morning at Columbia Playfields.

The No. 3 seed Cougars will face No. 1 Montesano in the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Kylie McMaster had an RBI double in the first inning to give Seton an early 1-0 lead. But Cedar Park tied the game 1-1 on a solo home run by Adelaide Foster in the bottom of the first.

Addie Seymer's RBI single in the third put Seton up 2-1, but the Cougars broke the game open with a four-run fourth.

All of the Cougars' runs in the fourth came with two outs.

Kingsley Williams reached on a error to score Brooklynn Lubisich. Keely Spanik's RBI single made it 4-1, and Williams came around to score on an error to make it 5-1.

Seymer's second RBI single completed the rally.

Kender took care of the rest from the pitching circle, scattering six hits for the victory.
