Denny Hamlin Makes Promise To Samantha Busch After Kyle's Tragic Death
As the wider world offers their thoughts and prayers to Kyle Busch's widow Samantha and her children, longtime NASCAR star Denny Hamlin has made a special promise to them.
On the latest episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin declared that if the Buschs every need anything, he intends to go above and beyond to provide for them. He pointed out that Samantha was among the first people to offer help to his own mother after the fire that killed his father in December, and he intends to repay that kindness.
"We just are going to think about the family," Hamlin said. "Obviously Samantha or Brexton, anything that they need from us or me personally then we're going to go above and beyond. Samantha was one of the first people that helped my mom after the fire. She was able to contribute and reached out and helped us.
"That family is very, very caring. Our thoughts are with her."
Homage to Busch
Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte and the races prior featured a slew of tributes to the late-great NASCAR star. It was hard for anyone to keep back tears as Busch's family was honored before the big race.
Hamlin praised the family for their courage and lamented that he was unable to watch it live while preparing for the race.
"The family just showed tremendous courage coming to the racetrack and subjecting yourselves to being out there," Hamlin said. "Great moment caught Kyle Larson‘s son, Owen, going up and giving Brexton a hug. Just, ugh, it's just heart-wrenching for sure.
"I didn't get to see any of that. I was on the grid and so where I'm at I can't see anything. I had no view of the Jumbotron there, so couldn't see any of what was going on pre-race but obviously saw the highlights on social media."
Hamlin went on to finish third at the Coca-Cola 600. Daniel Suarez won the race with Christopher Bell coming in second. Tyler Reddick and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.
