Tennis Star Jakub Mensik Collapses On Court Due To French Open Heat

Jakub Mensik picked up the grittiest win of the 2026 French Open so far, but it came at a serious price.

Mensik, the No. 26 seed in the men's draw, secured a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 win this Wednesday over Mariano Navone. Their epic second-round match lasted four hours and 41 minutes.

Unfortunately for Mensik, he was dealing with cramps throughout the final set. In fact, there was a point where he conceded his first serve in the deciding tiebreak just to buy himself time.

After finally converting on match point, Mensik fell to the ground and immediately started grabbing at his leg in pain. He ultimately needed assistance from the doctors to get off the court.

It's unclear if Mensik will be ready to go for his third-round match against Alex de Minaur.

Blistering conditions in Paris.

Before the French Open even kicked off this week, the fans and players were warned that temperatures would reach the low 90s.

"In terms of weather, look like this Roland-Garros will be a record in terms of temperature. I never see temperature like this end of May and prevision getting higher every time. 1st round and 2nd Round will be hard but at least no rain delays," Sunday's weather update stated.

The conditions in Paris won't really cool off until this Sunday, so we may see a few more matches impacted by the heat.
