EA UFC 6 Finally Brings Back a Feature Fans Have Wanted for Years

In the teaser, EA showcased an 'Open Weight Class Selection' option alongside the message, 'Pick your division, build your matchup.' While the publisher stopped short of explaining exactly how the feature works, longtime players immediately began connecting the dots.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Fans flooded the comments with reactions including "Finally," "Thank God," "Yasss big w," "OMG!!!!," and "We're so back." Another player described the change as something they had been waiting years to see, while others called it one of the best reveals for EA UFC 6 so far.

For years, members of the UFC gaming community have pushed for more control over the divisions they compete in online.

The teaser appears to point toward the return of selectable weight classes in online competition, a feature that many players have wanted back since UFC 4 launched in 2020. Since then, Ranked Championships have relied on a rotating weight-class schedule rather than allowing players to choose a specific division.

The system often forced players into divisions they did not regularly use, meaning someone who preferred lightweight competition could suddenly find themselves competing in heavyweight or women's divisions when the rotation changed.

Interestingly, YouTuber Crooks Tha Great discussed the possibility of weight-class selection returning roughly a week before EA's teaser. He noted that UFC 1, UFC 2, and UFC 3 allowed players to choose their divisions in Ranked Championships before the feature was removed in UFC 4.

EA has not yet confirmed exactly how the system will work in UFC 6 or which modes it will support. However, the teaser has generated significant excitement, with many players viewing it as a potential solution to one of the community's longest-running complaints.
