Mbappé Answers Who'll Score More Goals at the World Cup: Messi or Ronaldo?

When it comes to the World Cup, there might not be a better person to talk to than France’s Kylian Mbappé.

As a teenage phenom in Russia eight years ago, Mbappé tore onto the scene and led the French to the World Cup trophy, beating Croatia in the final game.

Four years ago, Mbappé took France to the World Cup Final in back-to-back tournaments, scoring a hat trick in the climax against Lionel Messi‘s Argentina to push the game into penalties.

Although France fell, Mbappé is already on the verge of creating history, only 27 and four goals behind Germany’s Miroslav Klose’s total of 16 for most in the tournament’s history.

In a recent social media interview before his third World Cup, this time in the United States, the French ace was asked a series of rapid-fire questions on who he believes will score more goals at the upcoming tournament.

Mbappé is a big fan of 18-year-old supernova Lamine Yamal, believing that the Spain attacker will have more goals at the World Cup than Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, the Netherlands’ Memphis Depay, and even Norway’s Erling Haaland.

The first player he took over Yamal was Mbappé’s Real Madrid teammate, Vinícius Júnior, of Brazil.

Mbappé then eventually took Messi over Vinícius, leaving the French player with the question that will be asked a million times over these next few summer months: Messi or Ronaldo?

Even at 41 years old, Mbappé gave respect to the Portuguese striker still searching for his World Cup Final, picking Ronaldo over Messi to score more goals across North America.

But when asked if Ronaldo would be the top goal scorer of the 2026 World Cup, Mbappé had to make sure to set the record straight.

Ronaldo might beat Messi, but Mbappé will be scoring the most goals at the World Cup, once again, as he not only looks to lead France to a three-peat of World Cup Finals but to possibly surpass Klose’s record.
