NBA Finals Prediction: Magic Johnson Picks Winner of Knicks-Spurs Game 5
The New York Knicks took a 3-1 series lead against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, putting them one win away from their first championship in 53 years.
After erasing a 29-point deficit in Game 4 to stage the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history, the Knicks certainly look poised to seal the deal and secure the championship when they play the Spurs again in Game 5 on Saturday.
NBA legend Magic Johnson, however, thinks the series is not yet over and that the Spurs will be able to extend it.
On Thursday, right after the Knicks' 107-106 win in Game 4, Johnson expressed his belief that the Spurs will win Game 5. He still has Jalen Brunson and the Knicks winning the title, but not until Game 6 or 7 of the NBA Finals.
"I think the Spurs have another win in them and the Series will stretch out to 6 or 7 games, but I still see the Knicks winning it all," Johnson wrote in a post on X, where he also praised the Knicks for the win and pointed out the "huge mistake" the Spurs made in Game 4.
With their backs against the wall, Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs will certainly have plenty of motivation to extend the series at home. Not to mention, they did show in Game 4 that they can dominate the Knicks when they are executing their game plan.
The big concern for the Spurs now is whether they can avoid the same mistakes they made in their massive collapse. It also remains to be seen if the Spurs can quickly move on from their epic collapse.
