The Chronicle's 2026 All-Area Baseball Team

Almost two weeks after celebrating on the field with the state championship trophy, bleached hair visible for everyone to see, one thing stuck with Napavine's Cal Bullock the most.

"Just the constant support every game," Bullock said. "Everyone came to our championship game, and that was crazy. Other than our fans, I don't think anyone thought we would win that game. It was a huge confidence boost, and we had nothing to lose ... We did it for the community."

The state title was the final stamp on an extraordinary senior season for Bullock, who helped Napavine win a co-league title, a district title, and the state title while winning Central 2B League MVP honors and All-Area MVP honors.

He finished his senior season with a .408 batting average and an OPS of 1.091, hitting one home run while driving in 34 runs, stealing 31 bases, and he also scored 47 runs.

That was only half the equation for him, though, as he also went 7-1 on the bump with 69 strikeouts and a 1.92 ERA across 47.1 innings.

In addition to breaking through for a title with his senior teammates - Grady Wilson, Hudson Chambers, and Chase Reyna - Bullock also was able to win the title alongside his brother Eric, Napavine's starting second baseman.

"It means everything," Cal Bullock said. "Super special. It doesn't even seem real honestly. Kind of like a story, a perfect ending."

The story of Cal Bullock and the Tigers' season included almost all highs, but there were a few momentary lapses that led to a couple of lows.

Entering the Final Four, the Tigers had lost just two games. The first loss came to Toutle Lake, which also happened to be Napavine's semifinal opponent in Selah.

Through six and a half innings, it looked like the Ducks would have the upper hand again. Napavine trailed 5-1 in the seventh, three outs away from elimination.

Instead of rolling over, the Tigers rallied, scoring four runs to tie it before winning it in the eighth on a Wilson walk-off. Bullock got on base in both innings, hitting a single and scoring in the seventh before drawing an intentional walk in the eighth.

"We all just started to believe," Cal Bullock said. "At first, I don't think everybody did. But we came together, got the energy up, and just went on from there."

Two days later, Cal Bullock and several other seniors from around the area and beyond played in a senior All-Star Game at Centralia College.

It's far from the last time he'll be on the turf at Bob Peters Field, as he'll play the 2027 season with the Trailblazers. It's just 13 miles from Napavine High School, a short trip that several supporters will be making again next spring.

"I'm super excited," Cal Bullock said. "It's gonna be a great opportunity, and it couldn't be better to be close to home.
