Becky Hammon Looks Foolish After Knicks Win The NBA Finals
Former NBA assistant coach and current WNBA head coach Becky Hammon does not look good following the Knicks' win over the Spurs in the 2026 Finals.
The Knicks topped the Spurs, 4-1, in the 2026 NBA Finals. New York rallied from another big deficit to take down San Antonio in Game 5, winning the series. The Knicks have won their first NBA championship since the 1970s.
Jalen Brunson won NBA Finals MVP - and deservedly so. Brunson had a huge game in Game 5, scoring 40-plus points and leading the Knicks to a comeback win. He was the best player in the series for most of the month.
However, in the wake of Brunson's championship, old comments from Hammon are going viral on social media. They make her look pretty foolish.
Hammon had essentially said that the Knicks had no chance to win a championship with Brunson as their best player.
"[The Knicks] don't have a dude... you got to have a 1A dude," she said back in 2023-24.
ESPN's Kendrick Perkins replied: "They do have that dude...Jalen Brunson."
Hammon responded: "He too small. If your best player is small, you're not winning... Steph Curry is the only dude."
NBA fans calling Hammon out on social media
NBA fans are dunking on Hammon on Sunday morning.
"45 POINTS ON THE ROAD TO WIN THE FINALS COME HERE BECKY," one fan wrote.
"Wake up Becky!" one fan added.
"Could not have been more wrong," one fan added.
"Make your apology as loud as your disrespect," one fan added.
Brunson is now in a very elite club - a small NBA player who led his team to a championship. And he deserves all the credit he is getting and then some.
