Daniel Cormier Responds To Eric Trump, UFC Controversy
Daniel Cormier wasn't part on the card for the UFC Freedom 250 event, but he made headlines at the White House.
Before the action got started on the South Lawn of the White House, fans noticed that Cormier posted screenshots of an interaction between him and Eric Trump on X. One of the alleged messages from Trump read: "Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged? I've been eyeing the Lopes fight and I think an upset wouldn't be too unrealistic."
Although the post from Cormier was taken down, it sounded like he was at odds with the second son of U.S. president Donald Trump.
"I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent," Cormier's post read. "The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event."
What does Cormier have to say about this situation? The former heavyweight champion claims his account was hacked.
"They're not real, I can't believe you guys believed that," Cormier said, via political correspondent Nicholas Ballasy. "I got hacked or something, who believes stuff like this?"
Cormier and Trump have conflicting stories.
While it's possible Cormier was hacked, Trump made it sound like the UFC legend posted AI-generated screenshots Sunday night.
"We are aware of the fake, AI generated screenshots being circulated online," Trump wrote on X. "I have never spoken to Daniel. He has since deleted his post, which confirms it was clearly fabricated."
Clearly, Cormier and Trump aren't on the same page when it comes to getting their stories aligned.
